Triangulation is Pervasive in Nature

The inherent advantage of triangulation is due to the fact that nearly all materials can resist far more stress when it is applied axially, than when it is applied transversely.

For this reason, triangulation is pervasive in the geometry of Nature, as illustrated by the construction of radiolaria.
