The Romans Threw Us a Curve

  To overcome the problem of the concentration of tension in Post & Beam Construction, the Romans developed the arch. (The Etruscans are believed to have "discovered" the arch.)

 

  Re-engineering was the answer to the problem. The Romans re-engineered the box frame to re-shape it into an arch.
