TRD
.

Truncated Rhombic Dodecahedron
- A rhombic dodecahedron with either or both its vertices and edges sliced off along a plane. In Reflexive Materials
Technologies (RMT technologies™
), a TRD is a rhombic dodecahedron with its tetra-edge vertices removed.

Void Array

Void Array
- The pattern of spaces between particles or other units in a
compact, such as a close-packing of spheres or TRDs. In RMT technologies™
, emplacements of three-dimensional zones through which mechanical
forces are not transmitted. A void can be empty, or it can be filled with a
material that is “less stiff” than the primary material of a structure engineered with RMT technologies™
.

octettruss.GIF

octettruss.JPG (high resolution)

Octet Truss

Octet Truss - The combination of intersecting or interconnecting units, such as rods or bars, organized as interdependent tetrahedra and octahedra in a 2:1 ratio. The internal skeleton of a structure engineered with RMT technologies. Voids make structures engineered with RMT technologies™ lighter and operate with the skeleton (octet truss) to induce a balanced distribution of load.

unisemble.GIF

unisemble.JPG (high resolution)

UniSemble
.

UniSemble™ lattice - A UniSemble™ lattice is a packing of 13 TRDs. The voids in a UniSemble™ lattice account for a minimum of 5% of the volume of the structure.

unisembletwr.GIF

UniSemble™ Tower
- A stacking of UniSemble™ lattices.

unicore.GIF

unicore.JPG (high resolution)

UniCore
.

UniCore™ lattice- A UniCore™ lattice is a packing of 12 TRDs. It is a UniSemble™ lattice with the center TRD removed. In a UniCore™ lattice, every fourth figurative TRD is missing, creating a void. The voids in a UniCore™ lattice account for a minimum of about 30% of the structure.

UniFrame
.

UniFrame™ framework (3-layers) - The basic UniFrame™ framework is the edge-wise framework of a packing of
TRDs in the UniSemble™ lattice. In this image, the cubic voids are colored for ease of orientation.

uniframe2.GIF

uniframe2.JPG (high resolution)

UniFrame
UniFrame (2-layers) - The basic UniFrame is the edge-wise framework of a packing of
TRDs in the UniSemble array. In this image, the cubic voids are colored for
ease of orientation.

filament.GIF

filament.JPG (high resolution)

RMT™ Beaded Filament - RMT™ beaded filaments are one of two basic types of precursors used to install voids in RMT Precision™ materials and RMT Informed™ products and structures.

mat.GIF

mat.JPG (high resolution)

Mat - Beaded Preforms are one of two basic types of precursors used to install voids in RMT Precision™ materials and RMT Informed™ products and structures.
